The purpose of an EAGE local chapter is to promote Geoscience and Engineering and overall EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) activities. This includes lectures, events/meetings, professional technical training, etc. and providing updates to its members in the area where it has been established. A local chapter facilitates connections within the multicultural and multidisciplinary geoscience network (companies, universities, other societies, etc.) by promoting activities that extend beyond a single discipline. Moreover, it fosters young talent, innovation and the recognition of the geoscientific profession in the community at large. A local chapter promotes membership of the EAGE and acts in conformity with the Constitution and ByLaws of EAGE.
Florencia Balestrini M.Sc.
President and WGE coordinator
Florencia Balestrini is a Ph.D. candidate in the Applied Geophysics and Petrophysics group at the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft. Her research focuses on seismic interferometric applications for different processing purposes, mainly oriented to hard-rock near-mine data applications. In 2017, she obtained her MSc. in Geophysics from National University of La Plata. Florencia has been the president of the chapter since December 2022 and continues as WGE coordinator in the Netherlands.
Dr. Joeri Brackenhoff
Vice-President and YP coordinator
Joeri Brackenhoff is a research Geophysicist with Quantairra Research and Development B.V. in the Netherlands, specializing in wavefield redatuming. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology in 2021, where he was active as Ph.D. representative and president of the Geophysics student chapter. After his Ph.D., he spent two years in Zürich at the ETH University as a postdoctoral researcher before moving back to the Netherlands and joining Quantairra. His research interests includes wavefield redatuming for geophysical and medical applications and he remains active in various professional organizations.
Eline Leentvaar M.Sc.
Media officer and Secretary
I am a geophysicist (MSc) currently working at Deltares. I worked with GPR during my internship and with Helmholtz-based wave solvers in my MSc thesis. I work and worked on various projects related to geophysics (GPR, MASW, ERT, ...) and software development. I am particularly interested in seismic- and wave theory applications, applied geophysics and Python programming. Besides geophysics, I enjoy doing various other sports such as handbal, running, mountain biking and swimming.
